With expert guide, Gabriel Fawcett, treat yourself to a 10-night/11-day culturally rich journey through Hungary, Slovakia, Poland and the Czech Republic. Starting in Budapest on September 23rd you will spend 3-nights in this beautiful historic city. Immerse yourself in the culture as you explore Buda and Pest, from the castle district to the parliament building, all with an expert local guide. With an evening on your own many of our guests will choose to attend one of the many concerts offered. Explore the Fine Arts Museum, the Opera House and the gorgeous local architecture before setting sail on an evening cruise of the Danube River!

Depart the following day for Slovakia traveling into the High Tatra Mountains. Along the way you will stop at the ancient mining town of Banská Bystrica where you will have time to savor a Slovakian feast. This evening you will check-in to your 4-star hotel in the heart of the Tatra Mountains, the Grand Praha. This hotel was built in 1905 and offers all the amenities anyone could hope for, in addition to the breathtaking views offered!

As you make your way from Slovakia to Poland, weather permitted, you will navigate your way along the Pieniny Dunajec River on a float trip with skilled local guides! Enjoy a hearty lunch in Poland’s winter capital, otherwise known as the town of Zakopane. Following lunch keep your camera on the ready as you make your way to Krakow via a stunning scenic drive.

Krakow is one of Poland’s best preserved cities. Here you will be taken back in time as you explore Central Europe’s largest medieval market place and visit Wawel Castle (pictured above) where Polish kings were crowned and buried for generations. Explore Krakow’s Jewish Quarter and learn about the life and heroic deeds of Oscar Schindler who spent his time in this city during World War II. While in Krakow take in a evening of music and tradition with your traveling companions.

Make your way to Olomouc, Moravia in the Czech Republic. Moravia contains 94% of the Czech Republic’s vineyards and is the center of the country’s wine industry. Here you will sample many of their fine wines and take in the historical and prominent university town of Olomouc. Take in the culture and history of this great town and prepare your palate for a Moravian feast!

Your journey concludes in what some consider the most beautiful city in Europe, Prague! The Czech name Praha, or Praga in Old Czech, actually means threshold or doorstep. Here, in the capital of the Czech Republic, you will stroll to Prague’s most famous landmark, Charles Bridge. Following your historic walking tours, visits to local castles and the Estates Opera House, where Mozart conducted Cosi Fan Tutte, enjoy some time to explore on your own. Consider extending your adventure onward to Berlin for our 2-night post-tour.

Spend four-nights in lovely Cape Town as you explore Robben Island, Cape of Good Hope and Table Mountain, travel by cable car to the look-out situated at 3,500 feet. For nearly 400 years, Robben Island was a place of banishment, exile, isolation and imprisonment. It was here that rulers sent those they regarded as political troublemakers, social outcasts and the unwanted of society. You will be given a private tour of the island by an ex-political prisoner who can share first-hand knowledge of the past and how triumphant the human spirit really is. There is so much to see and do in and around Cape Town! You will be treated to a tour of Kirstenbosch Gardens which covers over 1,300 acres and houses over 88 acres of cultivated gardens! Guests will have an opportunity to visit a greening project in a nearby township where residents and school children are taught gardening skills enabling them to grow vegetables for their family. Many of our former guests find this visit with the local children a highlight of their tour!

Moving on from Cape Town will bring you to Stellenbosch, known worldwide for its quality wines and the spectacular beauty. Stellenbosch is home to one of the most prestigious old Wine Regions in the world. Founded is 1679, Stellenbosch is the oldest town in South Africa next to Cape Town. Walking through the streets of Stellenbosch, one can almost feel the history, as if strolling in days of old. The town is packed with many historic buildings dating back to the early 1700′s. Enjoy visits to local wineries and plenty of time to shop and explore this historic town.

No visit to South Africa would be complete without a few days on safari! Fly north to Johannesburg and head out to Bakabung Bush Lodge for your visit to Pilanesberg National Park. Virtually all the animal species of southern Africa exist here, including healthy populations of Lion, black and white Rhino, Elephant, Buffalo and Leopard – Africa’s “Big Five.” Bird watching is excellent with over 300 species recorded. The park offers a number of wonderful picnic spots, numerous hiding spots for game watching, huge walk-in aviaries, safe hiking trails, safari drives at night and flights over the park in a hot-air balloon.

Now that you have come all this way consider extending your vacation and join the post-tour extension to Chobe National Park and Victoria Falls! View the detailed itinerary online (www.EarthboundExpeditions.com) or by clicking here. Call today to make your reservation, 1-800-723-8454!

Let’s toast to the start of another great adventure..or three!

Earthbound group, In Pursuit of Pablo, hosted by Ellen Harden of the Fine Arts Museum in San Francisco, has just finished up a fabulous day of exploration in Barcelona. With reports coming in from one guest already, “I must tell you what a wonderful day we had today in Barcelona. Jordi was an excellent guide – His knowledge of Barcelona and everything Gaudi is extraordinary. Tibo and Jordi moved us around the city seamlessly. We love the hotel! It is no wonder that this is my forth Earthbound trip and Carolyn’s fifth. Can’t wait until tomorrow!”

Earthbound alumni and KPLU fans are fast asleep in Kaunas, Lithuania following their first day exploring Old Kaunas. In a few hours they will all be heading out for another day of exploration followed by an evening at the Kaunas Philharmonic!

Also departing today is a lovely private group on their way to South Africa! Boarding their South African Airways flight right now they will be arriving in Cape Town tomorrow and touring the Cape Peninsula and Table Mountain this weekend.

What a great way to start the weekend! A fond farewell to everyone traveling with us! We can’t wait to hear about all of the adventures and live vicariously through the photo’s that will soon be shared.
