If you take one trip the first half of 2016, let it be Cuba! We’re excited to announce a new Cuban adventure from February 19-26, 2016, where you can immerse yourself in rumba’s rhythms and the beat of son. Imagine kicking up your heels to salsa or joining in a neighborhood Rumba performance, then cooling down with a freshly muddled mojito. Remember, Cuba is famous for its Cha Cha, Rumba, Salsa and Merengue – so get ready to move!
It’s a culturally rich journey with a small, fun loving group. Don’t delay – our people-to-people journeys are known for their unique insider experiences and they sell out quickly. Never doubt how meaningful a journey to our island neighbor can be. Besides the history and culture you expect from an Earthbound Expeditions trip, we’ll also visit the Conservativo Guillermo Tomas. Located in one of the poorer areas outside Havana, the children who attend and perform here stole the hearts of Jazz at Lincoln Center musicians during a recent visit. These gifted students start at an early age and grow up immersed in academic and musical subjects. Many go on to join symphony, chamber and popular orchestras. It’s an experience to treasure.
Naturally, Papa Hemingway’s home is on the agenda, as are impressive museums and local eats. You’ll wind up your adventure over cigars and a hearty Cuban lunch after getting into the beat with professional drumming instructors.
A journey to Cuba is a journey of music and history, friendly people and deep-seated tradition. Join us in February to make a memory of a lifetime! Call 800-723-8454 to reserve your space today.
Join us September 6 – 16 in Italy! Our Flavors of Italy cultural adventure equals scrumptious food and wine throughout a region renowned for its cuisine (and wine). From day one, you’ll begin soaking in the gastronomic culture that makes Italy famous, starting with a multi-course Italian feast in Rome. Explore the hill country of Umbria and all of its wine tasting opportunities; walk off a little of the hands-on cooking classes as you stroll through Perugia and Bologna. Tuscany means hill towns and vineyards, found along winding cypress-lined country roads that end (for us) in Cortona, as you experience your own “Under the Tuscan Sun” with a wine and olive oil tasting.
No trip to Italy would be complete without a stop at the vineyards of Chianti, which we’ll enjoy on our way to Bologna. Challenge your knowledge of Dante with Antica Macelleria Cecchini’s butcher shop owner, Dario Cecchini and try his “sushi” di Chianina beef. He brings 15th century cuisine to the 21st century with pates and recipes you won’t find anywhere else. Of course, we’ll finish the day with a wine estate visit for fine Chianti.
Want an artsy diversion? Ask about our separate excursion to Florence!
In Bologna, we not only have amazing gourmet foods to sample at historic bottegas, you’ll also be immersed in an incredible music center – where the music of Toscanini, Monteverdi, Verdi, Pavarotti and Stradivarius is forever celebrated. Next it’s unforgettable outings to local producers of scrumptious cheeses, olive oils, balsamic vinegar and regional wines.
You’ll finish with “ la dolce farniente” (the sweetness of doing nothing) in Bellagio, on beautiful Lake Como. Explore Umbria, Perugia, Bologna and the Lake District. EE Alumni save! Call 800-723-8454 today.

Water management: those are the two words that sum up our day in the Netherlands. After breakfast, Earthbound Expeditions travelers visited the Kinderdijk area. Now a UNESCO heritage site, Kinderdijk has 19 windmills originally built to pump the water out of canals. These iconic windmills still function and are publicly accessible. Our Earthbound group was able to take a special tour inside a windmill built in 1738 to see its inner workings and to learn how the caretaker families lived so long ago.
This afternoon we had a tour of the moveable storm surge barrier near Rotterdam. Best described as a removable dam–the barrier is two enormous doors that can be closed in the event of high water to diffuse the incoming waves and help keep the North Sea from flooding the lowlands. It’s Dutch ingenuity and engineering on the grandest of scales. Dams, dykes, dunes: life is all about managing water in this part of the world!
